Keri-Anne and Cassie endure tough competition in Roberval

Keri-Anne Payne and Cassie Patten battled valiantly in a physical race during Saturday's World 10km Open Water Championship in Roberval, Quebec.

After a long delay the Metro girls were eventually confirmed as finishing 7th and 14th respectively in times of 2:06.01.40 and 2:06.39.50.  Keri-Anne led at both the 5km and 7.5km marks but in the end couldn't hold off the challenge of the chasing pack.  Italian Martina Grimaldi won the race in a time of 2:05.45.20.

The tough nature of the race was underlined by the fact that 5 swimmers were disqualified for violation of the rules.
